# Public invoice links

# Public invoice links

Workspace members with write access can create a share link for an invoice. Anyone with the unguessable link can view the invoice summary and, when a source file exists, preview or download the original PDF or image without signing in.

## Create a link

1. Open the invoice detail page.
2. Choose **Share** or **Create public link**.
3. Copy the generated URL.
4. Send it to the customer, supplier, or payment approver.

The public page is available at `/i/<token>`. It shows the invoice number, vendor, dates, customer, amount due, totals, and line items. It also provides the source-file preview or download when available.

## What recipients can do

Recipients can:

* View the shared invoice summary.
* Preview a supported PDF or image.
* Download the source file.
* Open the link without creating a SnapIt account.

Recipients cannot edit the invoice, access the workspace, view extraction audit history, or see other invoices.

## Treat links as private

The token is the access credential. Anyone who receives the complete URL can view that invoice, so share links through an appropriate channel and avoid posting them publicly.

Public endpoints are rate-limited. An invalid or unavailable token returns an invoice-not-found response rather than exposing workspace information.

<Warning>
  Do not include a public invoice URL in a public forum or an untrusted document. Use the authenticated workspace when confidential review or editing is required.
</Warning>

## API behavior

The web page uses unauthenticated, token-scoped endpoints:

* `GET /api/public/invoices/<token>` — invoice summary and line items.
* `GET /api/public/invoices/<token>/file` — source file; add `?download=1` to request a download disposition.

Creating or managing a link remains an authenticated workspace operation. Public access is read-only and limited to the single token's invoice.
